Bucket Racing Associations Annual
General Meeting ended up being a marathon affair
with a lot of ground to cover. The meeting was ably
chaired by President Ken Lindsay with Vice President
Trevor Lusby and Secretary Lyle Bennett at his side. (3 wise men!) There was a good attendance of
members and it was great to see some young blood
there. Treasurer John Olip was excused as he was
well, elsewhere.
The first item up for discussion was for tire choice
to be free in the Motolite class and after some discussion
it was decided to trial an open tire rule for a year
and revisit the issue at the next AGM which means
racing slicks are in for now
190cc 4 valve air-cooled horizontal engine (with 4
speed gearbox only) will be allowed into the
Motolite engine list. This will allow into Motolites the Supermono machine of which Garry Briggs of Big Bang
Engines had an early prototype to show to the
members. By all accounts a number of them are all
ready to go, more bums on seats will help allay the
rising costs of track hire and the like.
Peter MacMillan the PCRA treasurer who was good enough to come and spend the time at the meeting then outlined the cost and the problems of running meetings in track shy NSW. Some members were openly shocked at what meetings cost to run and the work involved.
Commuterlite rules then took a lot of time as each rule was picked through. The main ones of note are it will be permissible to replace the instrument cluster if you wish and if you are in the process or intend to prepare a commuterlite liberal hacksawing or grinding off of unused brackets or frame parts may contravene the OEM rule so wait until the 2013 rules are up. If you are not sure contact the Commuterlite Rep or Machine examiner see below.
Homologation of the CB125E was put off until the next Committee meeting (Jan 2013)
The rest of the time was taken up with run of the mill club matters and finally the Committee for 2013 was voted in.
After the dust settled the meeting was closed with everyone feeling that a lot had been achieved and that the Bucket format/formula is working well and will continue to attract new people young and old.

The BRA AGM could be a fiesty affair this year. The Honda CB125E motorcycle is up for homologation in the Superlite class and an 187cc 4 valve aircooled engine is mooted for the Motolite class (See below). Plus the rules for Commuterlites need tidying up.
All this and much more will have to be discussed probably into the small hours. After much debate and indeed sometimes gnashing of teeth the BRA technical committee ably cajoled by the President King Kenny (he seldom has to resort to physical violence) will come up with the best solutions for the future of Bucket racing the fastest growing category in motorcycle racing.
With the Commuterlites growing in numbers and if both bikes and motors below are accepted by the Committee it would ensure readily available bikes for all three classes and would encourage growth in all of them.
Will the Honda CB125E be the saviour of the Superlite Class?
With the CB and XL125s Hondas getting scarcer by the day the the Honda Cb125E may well be the source of plenty of donor bikes and parts for the Superlite Class.
